Hi, I'm Tamaya!
At Sisters and Suitcases we believe that cultivating meaningful connections among women is transformative. Seeing the world through other women’s eyes makes us wiser. It opens us up. When we explore, eat, learn, laugh and authentically share ourselves with each other we amplify one another.
We’re a modern travel company serving the curious traveler. We create tours for those who seek to experience a place, not just pass through a place.
Our vision for you is to embrace travel as a tool for learning, growth, healing and reconnecting with your core self in the freedom of travel.
We want you to feel like you’re traveling with a group of friends. Our activities are selected not so that you can “see a bunch of things,” but so that you can “feel a bunch of things.” Feel happy, feel relaxed, feel cared for, feel surrounded by good people, feel excited by tomorrow. When you're able to explore with intentions, your mind is given a space to shift. When you shift, what you see and experience becomes a catalyst to your deepest aha's
We have one life to live and how you travel matters — let’s travel more!

More From Tamaya
Over the past five years I’ve been building a company that connects like-minded women with locals to share authentic cultural experiences, bridging cultures, and opening hearts and minds. Because that’s what real travel does: It opens your heart, and it opens your mind to new people, cultures and traditions beyond your own.
When you’re able to laugh, cook, share a meal, drink wine and stay overnight in someone’s home thousands of miles away from your own you realize there's a connection in spite of any language, religious, or political difference and it will change the way you see the world. It changed mine. And that’s the power in creating experiences for the women who travel with Sisters and Suitcases. That is why I believe Sisters and Suitcases is vital to women. When you’re able to travel and explore intentionally, your mind is given the space to shift. Exposure to new cultures and people helps to create a healthier perspective on how you view the world around you and how you view yourself.

When I found a deeper meaning for travel...
In 2012, Italy was the vacation I needed to do just that. I sought out to find a deeper meaning for travelling besides the joys of entertainment and shopping. So I went alone and made the decision to let my guard down. I sat and engaged in transparent conversations with strangers and women whom I had just met that turned into meaningful relationships. My quest for adventure brought a greater return than I had ever imagined and provoked my inner desires. Travel has given me what I needed to gain control of my everyday life by helping me to reconnect with myself and others. I was able to move forward to the next stage of my life’s journey in hope and wholeness even after losing both my parents and realizing that I had abandoned myself by ignoring my needs and tending to everyone else. When I embraced travel as a tool for learning, growth and healing I reconnected to my core self.
